more about Erik Trauner

Dear Friends,

Thanks to the many talents of my father who was working as a painter & graphic designer, I discovered that I had some other passions in me,besides my musical skills. On the one hand, I can live my creativity with graphic art; and on the other hand, I am very much into modeling. Already as a child, I was always sitting on my father's working bench, watching him at his work with a lot of interest. So it is not astonishing that I was always keen on graphic art & painting. I love to design posters & CD covers & it always was a lot of fun to create many of the Mojo covers.

When I was looking for an idea for a logo for the Mojo Blues Band, I discovered an article about James Bond in a magazine. The headline was designed in a very nice neon print & I noticed that almost all the letters that were needed for our logo were hidden in that name. My father made the final version & ever since we have been using that logo unchanged.

Besides the technique of lino-cuts, I am also very much into drawing sarcastic cartoons.

A compilation of these drawings was published in a handmade cartoon book & it is available at

With the modeling, it was my father again -a very skilled ship modeler himself- who motivated me to paint little plastic figurines when I was of the age of 10 years old. I soon started to create miniature landscapes, added the figurines to the landscapes, & in that way I pictured historical scenes. This hobby, the so-called diorama building, developed quickly into an intense passion that has fascinated me at least as strong as the music until today.
